A Failed Attempt.

Kamryn has always been the child who catches on quickly to new things and does change pretty well. So, I naturally assumed that potty training would be challenging but nothing both her and I couldn't handle. I was wrong. After three days (and I know a lot of you are saying, only three days?? you gave up too quickly) I did revert back to the diaper. Why? Because I know my child and it was just not working. I could go into detail about what went wrong and how nothing went right, but my head hurts and I've talked it to death with whoever had the unfortunate luck to call me or be around me the last few days. So, we're retiring the panties for a later date and life can return to normal.

Back to the Happiest Place on Earth!

So, it's been awhile since Kamryn and I ventured out to Disneyland. With the holidays being so busy and me not feeling well, Disneyland was put on hold. But now it is back in full swing and I've already been twice this month. I went with my friend Stephanie and her son, Diego, during this trip and we had a great time! (I also ran into my Aunt Rhonda and my cousin Rachel and Rhonda bought me lunch. Thanks so much again!!)

New Year's Recap and Kamryn's lack of eating...

I will say for myself that I always have good intentions to take pictures when I go places...I take my camera with me pretty much everywhere I go. However, the bringing of the camera does not automatically mean that I will actually bring it out from the depths of my purse and use it. New Year's was one of those occasions where it never saw the light of day. Yet, I would still like to mention the evening for documenting purposes. We had a great time at my sister's house laughing hysterically while playing "Mad Gab!" We ate some of the best pork tamales I have ever had (which isn't many, but still props to these great tamales from LA that my bro.-in-law ordered). We rang in the New Year with New York for the kids and put them to bed and then enjoyed the rest of the evening with the adults playing games, eating great snacks and watching Dick Clark once again. He never quits, does he? Anyway, Happy Belated New Years everyone!

So, on to Kamryn's eating issues. It would look from this picture that she is actually doing quite well. Well, the week I took this picture I discovered the key to get Kamryn to eat other foods besides PB&J's and "patitas" (quesadillas or tortillas). I was making myself eggs one morning when I thought it would be fun to get Kamryn involved in the cooking process. She helped me stir and flavor the eggs and watched me cook them and when I was done, I asked her if she wanted to eat some and she said "yes." I held my breath as I put some in a bowl for her and almost started crying when she took her first bite and didn't spit it out. She went on to finish her bowl of eggs and ask for more. I was soooo excited. I made Sloppy Joe's the following evening for dinner and decided to get her involved once again. Hence, the picture you see. Kamryn eating her sloppy joe. I thought I had unlocked the world to Kamryn's eating habits...but it hasn't happened again. Jason attempted the same thing with Fettucine Alfredo and no luck, then I tried again with some other things and again no luck. So, I feel like we are back to square one. I'll still keep her involved with cooking because I think its important to spend that time with her and its educational...however, I need more tricks. Any ideas from you parents out there who have kids who actually eat there dinner? I could use some before I completely lose my sanity.

Life without the Internet feels like no life at all...

For almost a week now, Jason and I have lived without the internet at home. Our Land Line is connected through the internet, so we had no land line for a week. I never realized just how much of my life is revolved around the internet until we lost it for so long. I couldn't pay bills, balance my checkbook, check my email, download pictures and update my blog, find phone numbers (yes, I forgot that I do have a paper telephone directory....but seriously, who uses those anymore?), shop online (which I don't do often but I hated not having the option), check the news stories, etc.... Anyway, I felt soo out of the loop.

Today, our internet has been fixed and I can't seem to pull myself away from the computer. So, what have I learned? I need to find a balance. While we didn't have the internet, I'm sure i played more with Kamryn and took her out more, I read my book more, I kept up on house chores, I used my cell phone more to contact people instead of just using email or facebook and I'm sure there are other things. So, now that I have the internet back...it's time to balance my time wisely.

But man, I'm sooo glad to have a part of my life back. I just need to make sure I keep it only "a part." :-)

A few more pictures of the Christmas Trip!

I just wanted to post a few of the pictures we took while in Utah for Christmas. Both Jason and I have done a poor job at remembering to take pictures at all the family gatherings, so we don't have many, but there are a few I wanted to share.

Seriously, can you get any cuter than that? I know I'm biased, but this little girl is beautiful.

This was Kamryn's first reaction after playing in the snow for about 5 minutes. Good thing I bought her snow boots.

My niece, Kristin, her husband, Zach and their beautiful baby girl, Kailey (sorry, might have gotten that spelling wrong). It was good to be able to spend some time with some of my family on Christmas day. And yes, I am a great Aunt...twice over.

A bunch of our nieces and nephews from Jason's side of the family.

Father and sons gettin' crazy on the Wii. We were so glad to spend Christmas with Jason's parents ,to see so much family and have ourselves a true "White Christmas." I admit, I'm not much of a fan when it comes to the white stuff but it definitely makes Christmas a little more magical.

Christmas Presents! Quality reactions from Kamryn

Who knew kids could get so excited over gifts that they don't even recognize. Notice Kamryn is overly excited about these gifts and yet does not know what they are until we tell her. Except for the baby doll. Classic.
